We drive to Esztergom (approximately 1 hour drive) and visit the largest catholic church of Hungary – the Esztergom Basilica. This is also the burial place of famous cardinals of Hungary, like Primate Jozsef Mindszenty. We walk along the 750 year-old formal Royal residence, learn about life in the Middle Ages and enjoy the stunning panorama of the Danube Valley.
We drive along the river and stop on the top of Visegrad Hill at the Upper Castle for fantastic photo opportunities of the Danube Bend, lunch possibility here. We continue on to the artist’s village of Szentendre. It is a small Baroque town at the gate of the Danube Bend, at the meeting point of the Danube River and the Pilis mountains. We walk the narrow streets of the settlement built on medieval ruins. You have the option to visit the museums (for example the world-famous Margit Kovacs Ceramic Museum or the Confectionery Museum) or the shops of the village
